False Repentance, Perseverance and Lordship "salvation"

People need to understand the correct definition of repentance. Search the Scriptures to see if these things are so. Read the book of Galatians and John and Romans, get a good solid foundation of what the gospel is in 1 Cor 15.

  • Thanks Holly,

This is more info that needs wide distribution.

  • Holly, my wife posted a grace-oriented message to a friend’s Facebook today. She received nothing but denunciations of grace, including:

    “No change, no Jesus”
    “That’s easy believism”
“You can’t be saved if you don’t repent of your sin”

    I know you can relate.

    • John, your wife’s “friend” gave no contextual verses to support the false claims — but that is typical of Lordship “salvationists.”.

One quick thought to be considered:

As we study God’s Word, we see a great portion of passages in the Epistles are the apostles beseeching [exhorting] believers to walk in a manner consistent with their eternal position in Christ (i.e. Romans 12:1-2; 1 Peter 2:11-12) KJV

IF repentance were to mean turning from sin (which it doesn’t) and if repentance is the fruit (automatic change or byproduct) of faith, (which it isn’t), then there would not have been any need for the apostles to do any beseeching [exhorting] of believers to good behavior.

    • I can relate John… Sound like your wife is someone I’d like to know 🙂 And I agree with Jack, they typically seem to gloss right over God’s Word and proclaim their own.

  • Jack, your’e right – it wasn’t just a friend though, it was a bunch of them.

    • John, they typically are also not alone 🙂 But the good thing is, there is more of an audience, and maybe, just maybe more to reach <3 I try to look at it that way on the very difficult days.

  • Holly, I’m now married to a heretic, according to one of her LS “friends”!

    • John, I thought I commented but don’t see it here. I guess I am in good company with your wife, praise God for those who stand faithfully for the truth…

  • John… she’s in good company I hope. Heretic has been used on me, false teacher, Jezebel even… Praying she is taking it all in stride, remembering the spiritual battle it is, and praying that some will turn when they see her sound speech, her grace, the salt, the truth in what she says. God bless her!
