Spokane Bible Church Fire Update
UPDATE 8-5-26 – Added Pastor Thomas’s response to you all below his first post.
UPDATE 8-4-26: I had told my friends a few days back, that these fires looked suspicious. Because while looking at a live fire tracker map, several fires followed one road, and it twisted and curved, and the flames matched how the road ran. So it seems they arrested a guy who murdered his father in Mesa, AZ. They gave him manslaughter and he only served 10 years. Now it could be that he has murdered again through his arson. Not only that, but he has already been investigated for starting fires last year. Terribly sad, please keep praying for all who are suffering. (I don’t imagine any of the media will take back their ‘global warming’ as the cause?)
ד DALETH
My soul clings to the dust;
Revive me according to Your word.
I have declared my ways, and You answered me;
Teach me Your statutes.
Make me understand the way of Your precepts;
So shall I meditate on Your wonderful works.
My soul melts from heaviness;
Strengthen me according to Your word.
Psalm 119:25-28
I think many of you may be aware of the devastating fires that have been going on in Spokane, Washington. Up to 65,000 evacuated, as well as many structures lost. Please keep praying for all who have lost homes, some pets, and so far, no loss of life. Please pray for the safety and strength and encouragement of the firefighters.
My uncle and two cousins as well as some friends live there, and one friend is Pastor Jeremy Thomas of Spokane Bible church. I am across the state line from them. We’ve been very hazy with smoke here, so we can only imagine how hard it is there for those living in it.
We are not promised tomorrow. These fires are a reminder of how quickly things can change for any of us. The most important thing for you to consider, is are you sure of where you would go if you died suddenly tonight? Please read this pdf good news of how to be sure you are going to heaven.
You can read more about Jeremy in the gofund link below. He has been a pastor for twenty years, and is a Professor at Chafer Theological Seminary. I have been through a similar experience, when a microburst tore off the roof of our home in 2006. At first I tried to move some things, but the attic was flooded and the ceiling drywall soaked and started to fall on top of us. By the time we fled, we were up to our knees in water and mud. The only reason I share, is because pictures were melted together — they were sitting in water. Without going into detail, it is the memories and keepsakes that hurt. Things your little ones made you. Gifts or cards you and your loved one exchanged. Keepsakes from my parents and grandparents. And even in that devastation we had theft. I feel their pain, and pray that some might be led to help however they can. Links will be provided below. If you cannot help, prayer is a huge help. Keep them in your prayers, love in Christ, Holly
Here is Pastor Jeremy’s Youtube Video teaching list. My daughter and husband have a Bible study in their home with his teachings.
Spokane home update (by Jeremy Thomas, pastor at Spokane Bible Church)
Today was the biggest emotional rollercoaster of our lives. More so than when my wife nearly died in 2011. We woke up not knowing, but suspecting our house was gone. After a few hours of working tirelessly with insurance, phone calls, house hunting, embracing, weeping, praying, and encouraging we had confirmation by photo that our home burned.
