Adam Update 2-16-26 Good News!
Nothing is a surprise for me anymore when it comes to the Lord and His tender mercies. Well, I guess in one way it is a surprise, and yet in another, it’s not.
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed,
because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning:
great is thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
It seems that the blockage was going to be needed to be operated on. The scoping didn’t seem to accomplish anything in the upper intestine, and they thought it would likely that yesterday they would have to operate, so they kept him ventilated.
Sometime in the night, the blockage cleared itself! (This deserved its own sentence)!
So after the blockage has resolved yesterday, they thought they would try some breathing exercises to wean him off the ventilator. If it worked, they would remove the vent altogether. He didn’t quite meet the standards, so they attempted the same today.
Adam is now off the ventilator successfully! (This also deserved its own sentence)!
He is hoarse but seems at peace. He immediately fell into a restful sleep after. They do have him on oxygen, but each day demonstrates new miracles that I am positive are solely due to God’s mercy throughout each step. Each choice of doctor and nurse. Even some of the medicines they administered (I was surprised to see Methlyene Blue as one of his I.V.’s).
Pray for us regarding the right decisions on step downs from ICU. That this time they won’t do it too quickly and skip telemetry altogether as before. That they won’t discharge him too rapidly. And that whatever skilled nursing he is in will properly care for him. We need guidance on all these decisions, which I’m sure the Lord will give, even though I do not as yet know what they are (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Pray for the family who has traveled here to help, that they might have traveling mercies when they return home this upcoming weekend. Pray that their work will not have suffered too much from being gone.
And lastly, each one of your prayers was heard. And our Helper, our Comforter, interceded for each of us. I often see the phrase out there on the internet that says, “Prayer is powerful.” I’d like to ask you to consider this. Prayer alone is not powerful. It is Who we pray to and the fact we are His children. Our God is powerful, and the prayers of the righteous are heard (because of our belief in Christ we were made righteous – Romans 5:19). We sometimes don’t receive what we are asking for in prayer, but we can be assured He is interceding in our best interest. We can trust Him with our lives, which means we need to learn to trust Him with everything pertaining to this life here. So please know that you are laboring in the harvest, and you are ministering to and edifying the body of Christ whenever you pray for others. Don’t doubt your prayers matter. And thank you and God bless you all.
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:26-28
Get some time in His Word as much as you can!
Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16
Please I beg of those who do not know Him. Do not be apathetic. Do not neglect to tell your children. This is a matter of life and death. Don’t believe me? At least take the time to look into it yourself rather than just avoid all things about Him.

Holly, what wonderful news! I am very thankful.
I have prayed for Adam’s continued healing, for wisdom for all concerned in the right decisions and trajectory for Adam’s removal from ICU, for his skilled nursing care, and for family members to have safe travels and that they will quickly catch up at work.

Dear Madeline, thank you. He has not been passing any swallow tests. He will not swallow, don’t know if he is in fear of these things happening again or what.
