I’m Saved Now What? (Part 2)

This is a Bible study regarding a believer’s position in Christ

Even you haven’t read Part 1, I suggest you go read it first here

Firstly, everyone needs to be certain that you have believed the gospel and not another. You may have believed and been saved from eternal death, but maybe you have gone no further. Maybe you are not abiding in the Vine (Jesus – John 15:4-5), or haven’t been very faithful in continuing in His Word (John 8:31-32). When that happens we can be tripped up, or lost in bondage, not knowing where we are going, forgetting even that we were purged from our sins (2 Pet 1:5-9). But when we get back into fellowship with Him, we realize we are called for things, and begin to know our purpose.

For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. 1 Cor 1:25-29

Did God only choose the wise, mighty and noble? I am weak, and was foolish for many years, and so the point is, anything that is done that is good, is all because of Him and His great love for us. Apart from Him we can do nothing. We need Him. We need His Word. I did this devotional for a new friend based on helping new believers know some of the things that happen to all believers. I had some help from my friends at expreacherman.com, the link is seen here.

I also added some from my eternal security article which I highly recommend after this for further study.

Please look up each passage below always prayerfully. The article above is important so you can be assured of your position in Him, which may then help with knowing your purpose in life. Devotionals should be Bible studies where you answer from His Word what it is that He has told you personally from it, not generally something you receive from an untested site.

Look up the verses below in each bullet point and see if you can fill in the blanks and apply it to yourself — who you are ‘in Him’ or ‘in Christ’. Your position.

These are but a few of the things that happen when we believe, we are born again. God does not lie.

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. Titus 1:2

Believers can and do sin. Read Romans 7:15-25. The answer is to agree/confess we have sinned and talking to God about it (1 John 1:9). This is to give us more intimate fellowship with Him (1 John 1:3-4) and so that our joy may remain full. When we are sinning, we generally are hiding from God like Adam and Eve did when they first sinned. We need to remember He is our loving Father, and to go to Him. Every good and perfect gift is from above (James 1:17). We need to find those we trust to confess our faults to (those who will not gossip or share secrets and will point us to Christ). And we ask them for prayer, and we get back up into the saddle again (spending time with Christ hearing His Word – Luke 10:38-42). This is our endurance. We are washed in the water by the Word (Eph 5:26) but we do need to take heed to it (Ps 119:9). Love and Treasure His Word for His Word has given us life, even in our affliction (Ps 119:140, 162, 50). His Word was written ahead of time so that through the patience and the comfort of the Scriptures we might have hope (Rom 15:4).

Love and Prayers, Holly
