Saved? Set Free from what?

There is an idea with some, that one does not have to believe eternal life (eternal security) is part and parcel of the gospel.  The everlasting solution.  So one doesn’t have to believe it is everlasting in order to have believed the gospel?  Is this so?  Is salvation forever?  Contrary to misrepresentation by some, I am not suggesting perfect assurance, 100% comprehension, or our own feelings of security is what eternal security is.  This is NOT what eternal security means.

Eternal Security is God’s promise of His free gift, the everlasting life He gave in His Son to those of us who believe (John 3:14-18).

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from (everlasting)death unto (everlasting)life.  John 5:24

Those of you who are teaching it is ‘o.k.’ if one doesn’t believe in eternal security.  Are you calling God a liar regarding His free gift?  You might need reminded of this:

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.  2 Cor 11:3-4

How long is forever?

And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides FOREVER. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.  John 8:35-36

Are you a child of His?  If so you will abide with Him forever, eternally.  Starting from the moment you believe.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.  John 1:12

For a world of lost sinners was slain…

ruggedCross-DonPiercee I was singing the “Old Rugged Cross” in my head a few days back.   I thought of this photo right then and thought to put the words to it.  My friend Don Pierce, graciously allowed me to use his beautiful photograph.

The Word of God tells us in Deuteronomy 21, that a man shall not be left to hang from a tree overnight. Jesus did not. It also prophesies of a curse — ‘cursed is every man who hangs from a tree’. The law is a curse, for we cannot keep it, and it proclaims our sinfulness and declares each one of us in the world, every one, guilty in His sight. (Rom 3:19)

Please quit the holier-than-thou messages, about how someone else’s sin is somehow worse than yours.  Break one law, guilty of them all (James 2:10).  We should care about sin in the church and leave the judging of the world to God and the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 5:12-13; John 16:7-11).  Right now it is not our job to judge nonbelievers, so while we are here, and we still have breath, share the good news with those who need Him.

Only Christ is Holy, only God is Holy.  Tell others about what Jesus came to do.  To seek and to save that which was LOST.  Lost how?  Eternally.

WE HAVE ALL SINNED….

Believe on Jesus Christ as your Savior, God who was pierced for you (Yes that too was prophesied 600 years before this was spoken in Zechariah 12:10).  Many in Israel have not yet considered their own Scriptures, When was God pierced for them?

And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.  Zech. 12:10

All of us, by our sin caused His death on the cross, His pierced hands and feet -His shed blood. Yet, no one took His life from Him, He gave it willingly (John 10:17-18; John 15:13) out of great love for you, and for the world (John 3:16).

What else does our sin cause?

But your iniquities have separated between you and your Godand your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.  Isaiah 59:2

This is a problem that concerns eternity.  God is eternal.  There must be an eternal solution.  Your future depends on Him saving you from an eternal judgment that will not be reversed (Rev 21:8).   ETERNAL…. heb9-27WherewillyougowhenuDie

So, where WILL you go when you die?

There are only two choices, the first, you can make now.  The second, God will make for you.  Both are irreversible.

1.  Separated from an Eternal and Holy God forever in hell (eternal death).  For the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23a) And ALL of us have sinned (Rom 3:23).

OR

2.  Eternal life with an Eternal God.

But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Rom 6:23b

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting lifeJohn 6:47

What kind of life do we see below?

What kind of death is this speaking to?

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:

he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.

Believest thou this?

John 11:25-26

There are only two choices.  (Everlasting) Death and (Everlasting) Life.  Choose life.

If you said YES as did Martha, you HAVE ETERNAL LIFE right now and He will keep you, He has perfected you forever.  He will present you faultless by His ability.  This is not conditional life, it is eternal, everlasting, forever…

Believe upon Jesus to save you from the sting of death FOREVER.

The free gift is ETERNAL LIFE.

Which in this list is temporal or imply temporal things?

John 14-6 Friends, when you see these words or phrases in the list below, ask yourselves — is this eternal, everlasting, forever?

Or somehow is this only temporary? This is about God’s testimony of Son, that HE has given us ETERNAL LIFE and this LIFE is in His Son.  Do you believe that, or have you made God a liar  because you don’t believe that?

If you don’t see an ETERNAL SOLUTION or EVERLASTING LIFE as inextricably linked to the Message of the saving gospel, (which is what the Word teaches us about His death, burial and resurrection) — then what is it you see?

ARE THESE NOT ALL ETERNAL?  EVERLASTING?  FINISHED?

This is eternal death or eternal life.  Which way are you bound?

There is no in-between.  No temporary solution.  No probation.   Jesus is the Eternal God (John 1), there from the beginning.  He is God come in the flesh, who was crucified for our sin, buried, and rose again in three days. He died with criminals and was buried with the rich as was prophesied, and He lives! Christ lives today!

Why do you see blue and crimson above?   Blue signifies an eternal solution.  Christ died for us, so we don’t have to.  Christ rose again, as we will too.  Crimson signifies the cost of our sin, it is ETERNAL DEATH.

This proves several things.  HE is God, and only God is Savior.  Only an eternal God can save/deliver us from an eternity separated from Him (eternal death).  He declared it from the beginning (Gen 3:15), in the garden when man first sinned.  Saved from what???

Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the Lordand there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.   Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.  Isaiah 45:21-22

Only God has victory over the penalty of sin — Eternal death/separation from God.

I, even I, am the Lordand beside me there is no Savior.  Is 43:11

And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Saved from what?

He took our sins upon HIS cross and paid for them ALL FOREVER(Col 2:13), washed us clean in His blood, perfected FOREVER (Rev 1:5, Heb 10:10, 14). What must you do? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Who He is and what He did for you.

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (Gal 3:13-14)

HIS DEATH IN OUR PLACE MADE PROVISION FOR WHAT?

When we believe, it is counted to us for RIGHTEOUSNESS (Rom 4:4).

What do we receive?

The gift of ETERNAL RIGHTEOUSNESS

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.  Rom 5:17

HIS OBEDIENCE made us righteous eternally (Rom 5:19)

HIS SHED BLOOD for our ETERNAL SANCTIFICATION, (1 Cor 1:30-31; 2 Thess 2:13-14; Titus 3:4-7; Heb 10:10, 14; Rev 1:5).

HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS to provide JUSTIFICATION OF LIFE (EVERLASTING) Rom 5:18

HIS GRACE REIGNS through righteousness unto ETERNAL LIFE by Jesus Christ our Lord.  (Rom 5:21)

HIS BURIAL so we might be born again, buried with Him in baptism (of the Holy Spirit) so we’d be sealed unto the day of redemption – Eph 1:13; Eph 4:30 (again EVERLASTING LIFE).

HE CAME so that we might — be saved and have (ETERNAL) LIFE. (John 10:9-10)

HIS RESURRECTION to prove we too will be resurrected — to EVERLASTING LIFE.

IF YOU DO NOT BELIEVE THIS — WHAT DID YOU BELIEVE YOU WERE SAVED FROM?

WHAT WERE YOU FORGIVEN FOR? HOW LONG?

DO YOU BELIEVE GOD’S TESTIMONY OF HIS SON? THAT TESTIMONY IS THE GOSPEL OF OUR SALVATION.  (See 1 John 5:9-13)

DID YOU BELIEVE IT WAS EVERLASTING AND GET BACK INTO BONDAGE OF ‘FINISHING IN THE FLESH’?   REPENT.  CHANGE YOUR MIND.  FINISH IN THE SPIRIT WHAT BEGAN IN THE SPIRIT (Gal. 3).
