Rick Warren. Daniel's Plan??? Not!
New age guru? Compromiser or False Prophet?
DANIEL PLAN – Part 1
(I wouldn’t think that it would be necessary to do another post, I do believe there is enough information out there to see that Rick Warren is a ‘pastor’ people need to MARK and AVOID.)
Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18
BUT…I see a flier from the church around the corner.
MIND.
BODY.
SOUL.
THEY’RE MORE CONNECTED THAN YOU THINK.2
My heart sinks… This is the church that is an offshoot from my childhood church. It is supposed to be a sound, non-denominational Bible Church. This same church, I had to talk to one of the college leaders about favorably quoting Bill Johnson from Bethel Church. I also shared the information in this article regarding this heretic with that same leader.
This is the same church I wrote the pastor asking why he was favorably quoting people like Brennan Manning, Henri Nouwen, Philip Yancey, Eugene Peterson, Paul Yonggi Cho, who claimed he died and came back to life (all links on their names above, provide direct quotes to their teachings). The Saddleback church pastored by Rick Warren, who authored the “Purpose Driven Church” mentions the same people, and worse. (Warren was a key speaker at Yonggi Cho‘s church growth conference in 1997. Cho is known to mix occult concepts with Christian teaching. He is especially known for his word faith & visualization techniques- Dominionist25). Back then when I wrote them a letter, I was passed over to someone else. Nothing was resolved. Neither did I know how closely they might later all have ties.
Saddleback says: The Daniel Plan was the brainchild of Pastor Rick Warren, author of “The Purpose Driven Life,” in January 2011 as the first of seven “Decade of Destiny” initiatives at Saddleback Church, a Southern California-based church that serves over 20,000 congregants on a weekly basis. The idea came to him on a day when he had baptized over 800 people – Pastor Warren realized he, like his flock, was overweight and that the issue needed to be addressed.17
Rick Warren advertises the Daniel Plan is more than a diet. He states it is about faith, friends and focus (direction purpose). Daniel Pena (a member of the advisory team) says Faith is the foundation of the “Daniel Plan”….and about “pursuing a healthy, abundant life” 17.
Faith in who or what? The god of GREEN HOPE?
Oh! May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit, will brim over with hope! (NO! This is not a “Bible in Contemporary language” as the Mess-AGE claims) It is obviously brimming over with new-age language along with removing vital things such as ISRAEL over 600 times (depending on your translation…)

If one of the foundations of Rick Warren’s plan is about faith, can his SADDLEBACK CHURCH Biblically use participants, associates and co-authors who are not believers?
Are these not in fact the ministers of light spoken of in 2 Cor 11?
Will they help because they are ‘specialists in their field’ or will they make people stumble because of their new age teachings?
Does the Daniel plan have anything at all to do with the Daniel of the Bible?
Let’s take a look at the teachers who are giving “God’s prescription for your health” from their background, starting with Rick.
Rick Warren
Time Magazine rightly identifies “THE PURPOSE DRIVEN PASTOR: America’s most powerful religious leader takes on the world”. Affable and seemingly sincere Pastor of mega-church Saddleback Church (say they have 20,000 attend weekly, Wikipedia says the 8th largest church in the U.S.). Author of the Purpose Driven Life (sold more than 35 million copies worldwide). New Ager Peter Drucker is among his biggest mentors. He boasts over 400,000 pastors who have attended his “Purpose Driven Church” seminars. His P.E.A.C.E. plan, an acronym means, “Promote reconciliation – Equip servant leaders – Assist the poor – Care for the sick – Educate the next generation.”
Rick Warren: “The search for self becomes a search for health, for wholeness….”
My friends, this is, without any doubt, a primary New Age, Mystic Teaching. 1
Dr. Daniel Amen, One of the listed authors of the Daniel Plan, psychiatrist and self-help guru, he graduated from Oral Robert’s University. A professing Christian who is a bestselling author (over 30 books), is also a proponent of tantric sex (Hindu mystical approach to sex). Also into Eastern religious meditation. 16
Amen’s book, “Making A Good Brain Great” recommends using a form of meditation known as Kirtan Kriya, also known as the SA TA NA MA meditation (I find the first five letters very interesting). Kirtan Kriya, also referred to as SA TA NA MA meditation, has been called the most important meditation in Kundalini Yoga. 24
Dr. Mark Hyman, M.D. – Listed author of the Daniel Plan, into Eastern Spirituality, a secular Jew who writes about alternative medicine)
Four-time NY Times Bestseller. 14, 15 He promotes mystical meditation based on Buddhist principles. 16
Look at the advertisement for his upcoming book.
Dr. Mehmet Oz – Has his own television show, frequent Oprah guest. A Sufi Muslim who is a follower of cult leader, Emmanuel Swedenborg (according to The New Church website) – Denying the atonement, the trinity and the deity of the Holy Spirit. They teach all religions lead to God, the Bible is not inspired, and when you die, you become an angel, or an evil spirit. 16
If you look on the internet, you will indeed find plenty of references to Mind, Body & Soul, that it’s much more connected than YOU think to the new age and also sorts of mystical practices. You might just look up “Elevated Existence” magazine. You can find out about karma, soul contracts, and other such antichrist ideas.
Elevated Existence Magazine is devoted to help you “Discover the Divine in Body, Mind & Soul”. You will find articles by the same self-help guru and psychiatrist, Dr. Amen, who is associated “The Daniel Plan”. You will also find Dr. Hyman, the other new-ager who is involved with “The Daniel Plan”. And don’t be surprised, you will find Dr. Oz in the very same New Age Magazine.
All three Daniel Plan teachers are discovering the Divine in Body, Mind & Soul.

Is it a coincidence or a connection?
Rick Warren calls the Daniel Plan a “Health and Wellness program”.
Is it really “God’s prescription for your health”?

Dr. Oz, one of his partners in the “Daniel Plan”, calls us to “Awaken the Spirit Within”…

More and more people are becoming aware of the mind-body-soul connection, but there are still a lot of unanswered questions. Exactly what is it and where is it? How do you find it? Can you have it even if you are busy running around trying to keep up with your life? Do you have to believe in God? Do you have to become a hippie?

Thank you for putting together this timely information. Things are changing rapidly and many are blind when it comes to the false right before our eyes, yes, hiding in plain sight, in our churches.

Thank you Dori… Things are indeed changing rapidly for the worse. Many deceivers and many deceived. The thing is people wrongly think that the more popular a man, the more powerful, the more books he sells, then of course he must be ‘blessed by God’…
I always think on this verse, “Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” (Lk 6:26)
I’m convinced that the Daniel plan superficially refers to the author of the book Daniel, but in actuality refers to that Dr. Daniel Amen as being the originator of this New Age plan Rick Warren has given to the public.

Jan, I wondered that too, especially with all the ‘mind’ and ‘brain’ stuff Dr. Amen does in all of his books. And of course Mr. Warren missed the most important part of Daniel separating from the world, knowing the King’s delicacies were offered to idols. It seems to be quite the opposite for him.
Thank you for that wonderful post, Holly:} We’re just going to keep seeing more and more of this coming from pastors & teachers who perhaps started well, but became corrupted by words & teachings of other men & women. Galatians 5:7-10 certainly warns of this: “You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom. This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.”
