Comfort from His Word
THE LORD, THE LORD…
OH GOD, YOU ARE MY GOD, MY SOUL CLINGS TO YOU,
YOUR RIGHT HAND UPHOLDS ME.
(Ps 63:1a,8)
Remember the word to Your servant,
Upon which You have caused me to hope.
This is my comfort in my affliction,
For Your word has given me life.
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
That the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed;
We are perplexed, but not in despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken;
Struck down, but not destroyed—
Always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus,
That the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake,
That the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
So then death is working in us, but life in you.
And since we have the same spirit of faith,
According to what is written,
“I believed and therefore I spoke,”
We also believe and therefore speak,
Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus
Will also raise us up with Jesus,
And will present us with you.
For all things are for your sakes,
That grace, having spread through the many,
May cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.
TAKE HEART!
Therefore we do not lose heart.
Even though our outward man is perishing,
Yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment,
Is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
While we do not look at the things which are seen,
But at the things which are not seen.
For the things which are seen are temporary,
But the things which are not seen are eternal.
Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
And His disciples asked Him, saying,
“Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,
But that the works of God should be revealed in him. John 9:1-3
GOD IS FAITHFUL
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man;
But God is faithful,
Who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able,
But with the temptation will also make the way of escape,
That you may be able to bear it. I Cor 10:13
GOD IS MERCIFUL
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.“
The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”
Whom have I in heaven but You?
And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.
My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
SUFFERING
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time
Are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
For the earnest expectation of the creation
Eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.
For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly,
But because of Him who subjected it in hope;
Because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption
Into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Rom 8:18-21
HIS LOVE
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine,
Or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
As it is written: For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
”Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors
Through Him who loved us.
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life,
Nor angels nor principalities nor powers,
Nor things present nor things to come,
Nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing,
Shall be able to separate us from the love of God
Which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 8:35-39
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,
knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
But let patience have its perfect work,
that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4
<>
In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be,
You have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith,
Being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire,
May be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
Whom having not seen you love.
Though now you do not see Him, yet believing,
You rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
Receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls. I Pet 1:6-9
TROUBLE…
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Ps 27:5-6
REFUGE
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.” Ps 91:1-2
There is so much good in His Word, you can find comfort everywhere, keep looking! He will never leave you, nor forsake you. Seek Him, He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. endure, seek his word like treasure.
Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me!
Give Your strength to Your servant,
And save the son of Your maidservant.
Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed,
Because You, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.
